Our first cooking workshop was a demonstration of bringing community together to keep food traditions alive. We all learnt a lot over the afternoon and despite a few mishaps, the afternoon was enjoyed with many laughs and a couple of glasses of wine. A wonderful and enthusiastic team churned through almost 100kg of tomatoes in just over 2 hours. The weather did it’s best to throw us off course but we still managed to enjoy a delicious pasta lunch and salad fresh from both the hub’s wicking beds and the wonderful Victorian producers at Melbourne Farmers Markets, al fresco style. A big thanks to our facilitator Betty and all the helpers including our Global Sisters Zura and Yoko who joined in on the day. This was a taster, we will now be waiting to get the kitchen completely installed before we release our ongoing kitchen workshop schedule.
